I just did an archive binge, and I’ve gotta say that the artwork is incredible. Reminiscent of 80s styles but with more modern sensibilities.
Unfortunately, this translates to the layouts too. You need to take into account the path the reader’s eye will follow across the page. If you haven’t already, I suggest you read some stuff by Scott McCloud or Will Eisner’s “Comics and Sequential Art”
For example, in the upper right corner of this page, my eye skipped right over panel 5, and the speech bubbles in panel 9 are rather haphazard.
In 277 strips there were many other places where it’s easy to lose track of the action, or where things are too hard to follow, and the fact that I still got pulled into the world means that making things easier to read would improve immersion greatly.
Thanks for reading Astray3 and taking the time to write a well thought out comment, SSliport. I’m constantly looking for ways to improve the comic, so your feedback is very much appreciated.
#278 should be out by the end of the week. I’m interested to see how readers will react to the unorthodox layout.
Poor kid is definitely having it pretty rough. I mean, lost in a weird world she doesn’t understand, turned into a spooky acid-blooded pariah, hunted and chased everywhere she goes… Life sucks pretty hard for the stray.
*gives emily a hug* Ima take you to the hospital, then give you nice bath and all the muffins you can eat.
*sends the protagonist a cookie with a note saying “I forgot your name but have this cookie anyway” *

I love how your signature and date are cast in stone as part of the scene.
Aww heck the whole things been great so far.
Thanks, Equalor. I thought it was about time to change up how I present the comic logo.

Yeah, sadly, life isn’t being too kind to our protagonist right now.
From the looks of it, things aren’t improving in the near term, either.
