Agreed, I can’t wait for more and hope you’ve had some progress on that book!
In the mean time, I’d like to note another comic thats been in a long hiatus. Jamie Robertson, artist of webcomic Clan Of The Cats is making a comeback!
I’ve been a fan of this comic for years. Jamie has fought bouts of blindness over the years to keep going but it’s gotten the better of him for the past few years. Never-The-Less making a short story this June which has already started to try and get back into the groove. I’d greatly appreciate the effort of anyone here who took the time to hop on over there and cheer this battler on with some encouragement for keeping at a webcomic for what will be 13 years on the 19th of June!
Eldon,
I sent a request via twitter. Dont know if you still check it. Get back to me if you can. Thanks man! Keep up the awesome work. Your line work gets better and better if possible!
Hey, I know I read in one of your other posts that you’re busy with work and other things. Just wanted you to know that I still check in here every week because I love the story, and particularly the art style and coloring. Hope that things work out so you can put up a few more pages!
Found your work through a link from another comic. Don’t remember which one as I read so many.
I really enjoy your work and I think you could probably make a good living off of just doing this. You obviously love doing it.
You should pick the brains of such people as Howard Taylor of Schlock Mercenary, Tarol Hunt of Goblins and Pete of Sluggy Freelance to figure out how to do it.
I honestly hate it when the writer says they will do a reboot of their comic. It always winds up just getting completely scrapped , and turns into a dead link after a few months .
Well… Earthsong and Banished have managed it pretty well. Ok, so Banished didn’t exactly redo the initial pages, they just reposted them until it caught up to the present again and they had a new artist, but Earthsong completely redid all the old pages. The Phoenix Requiem redid the first 180 pages or so as well, although the comic was never down or slowed during this time (Sarah Ellerton is just that fast).
Not to make excuses, but I do have a full time comic job and also work a part-time job to fill in the monetary gaps. So time is scarce between deadlines and city work. Unfortunately this causes updates to suffer. I’m working on pages right now, but they’re being held back for buffeting when the comic starts back up. I know it’s lame but I have to eat.
Woah.
I thought my reaction to this comic deserved a line all to itself. Anyway, I just discovered this comic, I got linked to it from another that I ALSO just discovered, and have spent the last… hour or so catching up on the archives. What the HECK is goin’ on, man? This is so weird, but incredibly creative as well. Obviously you have some big plans, and I can’t wait to see where you take this story. I was reading some of the comments on this page, and apparently you intend to restart the comic? So we’ll have to wait even LONGER to get answers? And I definitely agree that you should keep this old stuff online for people to discover. Your artstyle is amazing, as is your world building. I am well and truly hooked. Kudos sir or madam, you have done an amazing job.
I do believe that Emily and Xuan are one in the same… just a thought… Another thought would be that Xuan and the other guy from way back when there was a conversation between the rhino and the hippo, are named after the bio-medical engineers of the current research field?
I’m working on something like that. Creature profiles, a reference dictionary, and location details. Believe it or not, I lose track of everything myself and have to continually dig through the archives for reference.
I discovered your amazing work yesterday and I didn’t stop reading until I reached the last post.
Your style is great and I’m very courious to see what will happen next!
Eldon, your art style and tale spinning skill is incredible. Thank you so very much for having created and shared this. Yes, I only just finished reading through the entire story
I must ask, where is the information on the graphic novel? I’ve tried looking around the site, and cannot for the life of me spot any mention except on this set of comments. My main question though is will the rest of the story be solely able to read in a graphic novel, or will you continue to share online?
Just to get an idea of what span of time I might have to wait for future fixes
Well, that is a complicated question to answer. Astray3 is currently getting an overhaul and relaunch next year. This will be accompanied by a book push.
The comic will continue to be posted on the web; classic and new version.
I look for this to start around the end of 2011 / beginning of 2012.
At least that is the plan so far. I will update the site with more detailed info once things start coming together.
Grats on getting through a book. But if the reworking of the pages means my translation efforts are about to become futile then I WILL PLACE THE HEX OF NINE KETTLES ON YOU!!! *lol*
Whats this talk of a new site? So a3classic dot com stays but you’ll start another one?
Well, we know from this that Emily will end up back in the regular Universe and meet Spacey since he knows her future. Maybe thats part of why he saved her since he knows she must exist in the future and may even know a good part of what she’ll do here if we presume he learns the tale in the future… Guess she could remain here and he just learns the tale from someone else as well. Heck, Emily’s imagination seemed similar to this. Could they actually use people with imaginations that closely match the world their creating to assist in keeping it running and working the details?
So the Avalons have tried to make their own reality? Still doesn’t explain the fish food Umway should have felt guilty about exactly and I guess the Avalonians really do have some sort of plans for Emily if they are her abductors.
Possibly a reality creation device powered by those with overactive imaginations ala Matrix-esque hookups? (It’s a thought.)
Or maybe they just need her to run free range, spreading it as she goes. I’d need a little more info to get any even slightly concrete theories out at this point.
Also, I’m jumping on the congratulations bandwagon… Congratulations on completeing your first volume.
There could also have been a mix up. Maybe they intended to get Abby Partridge since she has some latent psychic ability… or maybe it was Abby who mistakenly teleported Emily. Abby was the first one to see some strange stuff coming from the closet before Emily even made it to work. But yeah, Emily’s imagination as a key factor to the world makes a lot of sense.
Since there is some interest in keeping the old comics online, I will either leave them here as is and start a new site for the graphic novel, or transfer them to another site for archival. I haven’t decided yet.
I will give further details on pre-ordering books when we get nearer to the publish date. The first “little” book should be ready around the beginning of 2012. I will keep you guys updated.
AH! Just when things are getting so… ah it’s ok. Art needs to exist of itself and follow it’s own paths. Do what you gotta do! I’m tuned for whatever’s next. Interesting that these pages synchronize with material I’m reading Dune: God Emperor… methinks my Universal Actuality is trying to tell me something!
That is correct, Peter. This marks the end of the first book. However, I’m going to take some time reworking this volume before moving on to number 2. This site will remain the same to preserve the old comic. ( Since there has been some interest in keeping the old strips on the web. ) The reworked pages will be introduced on a new site later on this year.
Eldon, is there anything we can do to help? Would really like to see a new page. Hope everything is ok with you and your family.
Read it again. It reminds me of a cross between Moebius, Richard Corben and Will Eisner. Truly brilliant work.
Hopefully there will be a graphic novel soon. I’ll buy five just to keep this going.
Have you considered a kickstarter? Maybe that would get enough funds to not need the part time to make ends meet.
Did spacy possess the ability to send her to earth and would he have done so had she asked? His last words suggest that the answer to both is yes.
ok, Eldon, heres hoping now that i found this wonderous cornucopia of wonder that you might float by on a cloud and drop some pages. Love the comic.
Eldon, are you dead? That would be terrible if it were true.
Is that new site up? What’s the status of the next volume? This work is AMAZING. Hope to see more.
Please come back! I just found this exhilarating beau! I can’t have lost it already! :’( Your work is fabulous! Please come back! o.O
Read it all in one sitting, please come back! This has been fantastic!
Agreed, I can’t wait for more and hope you’ve had some progress on that book!

Damn, I love this webcomic.
I demand more! Wrar!.
Though to be a bit more serius, I do hope you will pick it up sometime in the future, and when you do, I will be here for you.
Okay, I just read the whole story to date starting last night.
One word “remarkable.”
Four words, “Can’t wait for more.”
Love it, another vote for continuation. Off now to find if you have other work around.
¡Come baaaaaaack!
Wow…. fantastic comic! I began to read this crazy story a little while ago and i´m stunned
Just awesome!
WOW! I read from the beginning page to current in one night. Awesome! Your a great artist and I love this strange story. Please keep updating!
Eldon,
I sent a request via twitter. Dont know if you still check it. Get back to me if you can. Thanks man! Keep up the awesome work. Your line work gets better and better if possible!
Well worth the wait. Do you have the web addy for the new website you mentioned or will it still be this one with a new look?
Hey, I know I read in one of your other posts that you’re busy with work and other things. Just wanted you to know that I still check in here every week because I love the story, and particularly the art style and coloring. Hope that things work out so you can put up a few more pages!
Not as often as every week but I keep checking in to see you you’re going. Hoping to see a book one day.
Thank god some bloggers can still write. My thanks for this read!
Could be your best blog to date.
We are now “around the end of 2011 / beginning of 2012″.
¿When is the comic going to start again?

WOW! I just stumbled upon your work and am very, VERY impressed! I have to go back and read this from the beginning. Excellent!
-Loran.
Yay! for the golden oldies, but where did the classic first page go?
I honestly hate it when the writer says they will do a reboot of their comic. It always winds up just getting completely scrapped , and turns into a dead link after a few months .

You can’t rush genius. Take all the time you need, I’m sure plenty of us will still be here, eagerly awaiting.
i look forward to your work.as an artist, i totally understand the “day job”. not an excuse,an unfortunate reality.
Woah.

I hadn’t heard that theory yet.
We need a blasted wiki to keep track of all the details and theories, etc. Maybe there will be one in the new site.
I’m working on something like that. Creature profiles, a reference dictionary, and location details. Believe it or not, I lose track of everything myself and have to continually dig through the archives for reference.

Thanks for reading Igor. Hope to be back with new stuff soon.

Yet another beautiful page! I’m always envious over the quality you produce man. :]
Man, i love your comic. Since your website asks for an email adress before posting, could you send an email for pre-orders of volume one?
I will give further details on pre-ordering books when we get nearer to the publish date. The first “little” book should be ready around the beginning of 2012. I will keep you guys updated.

So, This is the end of this “Volume” of Astray 3? Loving the idea of picking it up in collected graphic novel form.
