I guess the other possibility is that these guys somehow knew what the grenade would do and jumped between her and the blast.
Man, these guys really have copped the raw end of the stick. They were the brave ones who came to Fuungahi’s defence against the threatening “humans” taking up arms against the ones they considered Gods, risking their lives and loosing much more. Left to live with the cruel “taints” of body parts transformed into Earth technology from the 80′s and for their loss and sacrifice they are hunted and slaughtered by the guard and the very people they tried to save. In dispair they come to believe they’ve been rightfully punished by their Gods for attacking them and so sought forgiveness, finally believing that their prayers have been heard with Emily’s arrival. Rejoycing and covering themselves in human excrement in a desperate attempt to show their devotion in the painful hope that they would be delivered from their plight this final blow is delivered, killing many, injuring most and probably alerting the guard to their location.
Now I’m just waiting for the survivors to get angry about humans again and burn alive thanks to the excrement they’re still covered in.
Then again… If I think about all the crap thats happened to Emily in this one day and I think I can understand how she might feel a bit more sympathy for herself rather than this mob *lol*
So a guy with a sheet of Kevlar for a head must have walked up at just the right moment *lol*.
